Vladimir Lenin once said, “There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks when decades happen.” I think it is safe to say that we’ve just experience the latter. The pandemic induced economic coma, the speed and volatility of this bear market decline, and now the unprecedented intervention by the US Treasury and the Federal Reserve have combined to make an already difficulty investment landscape harrowing to say the least.
We are at the midpoint of 2020, and if you had fallen asleep at the beginning of the year and just woken up, you might think it's been a real snoozer – but it would be an understatement to say this has been one of the more chaotic six-month periods in history.
A significant inflection point across many aspects of American society, 2020 will certainly be a year that is studied for decades to come. So much of what transpired reveals the fragility of our species and our democracy, yet it also highlights the resilience of humanity and the genius of the American experiment, imperfect as they may be. To truly live means to evolve. And we are evolving.
They say April showers bring May flowers. After a lot of showers and storms over the past year, flowers are starting to bloom and things are looking a lot better.
